Universal Pest Control provides safe, low-odour pest control to homes, shops and clinics in Citylight, Surat. We have worked in this neighbourhood since 1998, and our office on Udhna-Magdalla Road is a short drive away. All treatments use pesticides registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) under the Insecticides Act, 1968, applied by technicians we have trained ourselves.
Why Citylight’s pest problems differ from Vesu’s
Citylight is a settled, mature part of Surat, and that is the single most useful thing to know about pest control here. Unlike the newer towers further down Udhna-Magdalla Road, much of Citylight’s housing has been standing for decades. The buildings have been lived in, renovated, extended and re-plumbed, and every one of those changes left small gaps behind.
Termite colonies here are often long-established rather than newly arrived. A colony that has had fifteen or twenty years to develop is not discovered when it starts — it is discovered when a skirting board sounds hollow, a door frame gives way, or a wooden wardrobe back panel crumbles. By then the damage is usually older than the homeowner realises, which is why we inspect the whole structure rather than only the spot you noticed.
Rodents are a more common complaint in Citylight than in the newer areas, and the reason is drainage. Older drainage lines, disused connections and gaps where newer plumbing was cut into old walls give rats a route indoors that simply does not exist in a building finished last year. Poison alone rarely settles this. Closing the route does.
Citylight also mixes homes with shops, clinics, tuition classes and small offices along the same stretches. That matters, because a food outlet or a clinic pantry with a cockroach problem will keep re-supplying the flats above it no matter how carefully those flats are treated.
Older buildings need a different starting point
In a renovated Citylight flat, the important work is usually structural rather than chemical: finding the redundant pipe sleeve behind the new modular kitchen, the gap above a false ceiling, the old ventilator that was boarded over rather than sealed. We look for those first, because treating around an open entry point is money spent to delay a problem rather than solve it.
For post-construction termite work in an older property, that often means drilling and injecting along the plinth and at identified entry points rather than a surface spray. It is a more involved job. We will explain exactly what it involves and what it will cost before you commit to it.
What we will and will not promise
We will not promise to wipe out a twenty-year-old termite colony in a single afternoon, and we will not quote a termite job over the phone for a property we have not seen. What we will do is inspect properly, tell you what we actually found, treat the entry points and the colony rather than only the visible damage, and return within the agreed service period if activity continues. If the real problem is shared — a neighbouring shop, a common drainage line, an untreated adjoining flat — we will tell you that plainly instead of repeating a treatment that cannot work on its own.
How a Citylight job usually runs
We begin with a free inspection. A technician checks skirting, door and window frames, wooden furniture backs, the kitchen platform underside, bathroom ducts, the terrace and any point where old and new plumbing meet. For rodent complaints we trace the route rather than simply placing bait.
You get a written scope and a fixed price before work starts. We tell you honestly whether you need to be out of the property, for how long, and what to cover. Follow-up visits inside the agreed service period are included.
Services available in Citylight
We provide termite control, cockroach control, bed bug treatment, rodent control and mosquito control for Citylight homes. Shops, clinics, tuition classes and restaurants can take a scheduled commercial AMC with service records suitable for inspection. For stored goods we also offer fumigation.
We also cover nearby Piplod, Vesu and Adajan.
Pest control in Citylight — common questions
My neighbour’s shop has cockroaches. Does that affect my flat?
Very often, yes — particularly where a food business shares a wall, a drainage line or a service shaft with your home. We will treat your flat, but we will also tell you if the source is next door, because that is information you can act on with the building.
Is your treatment safe for children and pets?
We use products registered with the CIB&RC under the Insecticides Act, 1968, at label dosage. Safety comes from correct dosage and placement, so we will tell you which surfaces to keep clear and for how long. Mention any infant, elderly or unwell family member, or pets, at inspection and we will adjust the method.
Do I have to empty my kitchen cupboards?
For general pest treatment, usually not. For a thorough cockroach job we ask you to clear the platform and the lower cupboards so we can reach the corners and hinges where they actually harbour. We will tell you what to prepare when we confirm the appointment.
How quickly can you reach Citylight?
Citylight is close to our Udhna-Magdalla Road office, so it is one of the quicker areas for us to reach. Call or WhatsApp +91 9724311777 and we will usually offer a same-day or next-day inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers, no jargon.
Do you work in the older Citylight buildings?
Yes, and older construction genuinely behaves differently. Long-settled buildings have more service voids, older plumbing and more timber, which gives cockroaches and termites routes that newer towers do not have. We inspect for the routes rather than only treating the rooms.
We have shops on the ground floor and flats above. Can you treat both?
Yes, and it is usually better to do them together. Food shops and restaurants at street level are the reservoir that keeps re-supplying the flats above. Treating the flats alone is a recurring bill.
How much does pest control cost in Citylight?
It depends on the size of the premises and the pest, so we will not quote over the phone without seeing it. The inspection is free and the quote is written before any work starts.
Is it safe with children and elderly parents at home?
We use pesticides registered with the Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB and RC) under the Insecticides Act, 1968, at label rates. Gel and bait work is odourless and you stay at home. For sprays we give the re-entry time before starting.
Do you handle termite work in Citylight?
Yes. In older Citylight construction post-construction anti-termite treatment is common - drilling at the floor-wall junction, injecting and sealing. We inspect first and tell you honestly whether you have an active problem or old damage that has stopped.
